The SIA publish the results of their public consultation on draft code of conduct

January 14, 2021

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) carried out a public consultation in the early part of 2020 on their draft code of conduct.

The purpose of the consultation was to find out if a code of conduct could make it clearer as to what is meant by ‘fit and proper’ as it is the responsibility of the SIA to ensure that only ‘fit and proper’ individuals hold an SIA licence. The draft code of conduct describes what a fit and proper person should, and should not, do.

The code of conduct would build on the standards of behaviour that are part of the licence-linked training that applicants for most SIA licences are required to successfully complete.

The survey received 3853 responses with the vast majority (98%) submitted by current SIA licence holders.
