SyCom Elects new Chair

September 16, 2024

The Board and Members of The Security Commonwealth would like to welcome Claire Humble MSc MIntLSy CPOI who has been elected as its new Chair.    Claire received the unanimous support of the Board and the overwhelming support of the membership.  The Board would like to thank the other candidates for the Chair position for their professional and serious application.  Thanks also to former Chair Joe Connell MBE, who has stepped down from the Board: his leadership and significant contributions are appreciated greatly.

Claire started her career in policing both in the UK and New Zealand, before moving into Security Management in the UK education sector.  She founded NuParadigm a security training organisation seeking to transform and modernise the way security education is delivered: she is the CEO.   She represents TINYg on the SyCom Committee and, additionally, is on the Advisory Board of IFPO UK and the Women’s Security Society.

On being elected to the Chair’s role, succeeding Jayne King after her deeply successful period as chair of SyCom, Claire says “it is with a big dose of excitement and a little trepidation that I now find myself stepping into this huge role and I am delighted to be appointed as the new Chair of SyCom.  I come to this role as a relative unknown to the wider security sector but what you will discover as you get to know me is my passion, commitment and determination to make a difference.  As well as my 30+ years’ experience within this sector my strength lies in my ability to bring people together, lead difficult conversations and champion change.”

The now immediate past Chair of SyCom, Jayne King FSyI ASMS, congratulated Claire on her election and assured her of her full support as she takes on the challenges of leading SyCom into the next stage of its evolution.

The other Board Members are, Darren Carter; Dave Cooke; Grahan Bassett; Guy Mathias; Jayne King; Mike Hurst; Nicholas Reed and Oliver Curran.

Over 40 organisations are members of the security Commonwealth covering all areas of the profession.  For more information please contact the secretariat [email protected]
