We returned to Royal Windsor Racecourse for the ACS Pacesetters Security Officer of Distinction Awards on Wednesday, 20th May, and were joined by our members, together with their staff and clients, our sponsors, and guests to celebrate the outstanding work of the frontline Officers which often goes unnoticed.
We would like to congratulate all the inspirational Security Officers who are a credit to the Security Industry. Their professionalism and bravery saved many lives, prevented injury to the public, resulted in offenders being prosecuted and recovery of high value stolen items.
This year we had 21 Finalists for the Security Officer of Distinction Awards. There were 13 Award Winners and 2 Highly Commended Certificates. In addition, the remaining 6 Finalists were presented with Certificates. We would also like to mention all of those who were nominated who should be congratulated on their achievements.
We were delighted that Michelle Russell, CEO of The Security Industry Authority joined us and presented these well-deserved awards and kindly gave an update on the Business Approval Scheme.

We also took the opportunity to raise funds for charity with a raffle and thanks to the generosity of our members and industry colleagues in providing prizes we were able to hand over £2,150.00 to Mike Hurst on behalf of Security Minds Matter. This association was formed after Mike judged our awards several years ago and found that many of the incidents dealt with by the Officers were linked to mental health issues.
Our final thanks go to our sponsors who enabled the event to take place; International Foundation for Protection Officers, Darwin Clayton Insurance Brokers, First Response Group, SSAIB, Securitas, Orka Works, BSIA and Professional Security Magazine.
